In jener Zeit kam Jesus in ein Dorf und eine Frau namens Marta nahm ihn freundlich auf.
Now, while they were on their way, he came to a certain town; and a woman named Martha took him into her house.

Cô có người em gái tên là Maria. Cô này cứ ngồi bên chân Chúa mà nghe lời Người dạy.
Sie hatte eine Schwester, die Maria hieß. Maria setzte sich dem Herrn zu Füßen und hörte seinen Worten zu.
And she had a sister, by name Mary, who took her seat at the Lord's feet and gave attention to his words.

Còn cô Marta thì tất bật lo việc phục vụ. Cô tiến lại mà nói: “Thưa Thầy, em con để mình con phục vụ, mà Thầy không để ý tới sao? Xin Thầy bảo nó giúp con một tay!”
Marta aber war ganz davon in Anspruch genommen, für ihn zu sorgen. Sie kam zu ihm und sagte: Herr, kümmert es dich nicht, dass meine Schwester die ganze Arbeit mir allein überlässt? Sag ihr doch, sie soll mir helfen!
But Martha had her hands full of the work of the house, and she came to him and said, Lord, is it nothing to you that my sister has let me do all the work? Say to her that she is to give me some help.

Chúa đáp: “Marta! Marta ơi! Chị băn khoăn lo lắng nhiều chuyện quá!
Der Herr antwortete: Marta, Marta, du machst dir viele Sorgen und Mühen.
But the Lord, answering, said to her, Martha, Martha, you are full of care and troubled about such a number of things:

Chỉ có một chuyện cần thiết mà thôi. Maria đã chọn phần tốt nhất và sẽ không bị lấy đi
Aber nur eines ist notwendig. Maria hat das Bessere gewählt, das soll ihr nicht genommen werden.
Little is needed, or even one thing only: for Mary has taken that good part, which will not be taken away from her.
